British label printer gains ground in challenging UK food supplements and health markets with Screen’s digital technology
The purchase of the Truepress Jet L350UV+ came just in time for Lemur Labels, a full-service label manufacturer supplying businesses across the UK and Europe, to meet increased demand for short-run, multi-variation jobs. Since installing Screen's innovative label printer, Lemur Labels’ operators have been working overtime to carry out a growing number of digital print jobs. The L350UV+ enabled Lemur to print full-colour labels with small print often used on the packaging of supplements and proteins popular among athletes. Screen’s newest addition to its inkjet label print series also helped Lemur Labels meet growing demand for hand sanitiser as it ramped up its activities during the coronavirus crisis.
“The L350UV+ provides excellent print quality, with good blacks and solid colours. Its fine droplets ensure we’re able to print instructions in small print without any blurring, a requirement for many industries we supply, including the vape & e-liquid markets,” says Alex Hurford, Director at Lemur Labels. “The press allows us to be more efficient and flexible in how we respond to our customers’ requirements, with lead times that are among the best in the industry,” he adds.
Lemur Labels is the digital arm of A&E Supplies Ltd, the respected Manchester-based family-owned printing company, with over 30 years’ experience in the labelling industry. Its young management team recently invested in automation, building a smooth production line to ensure the fast processing of print jobs and delivery.
“Screen’s training following the installation of their system has been excellent, and strongly contributed to the high uptime,” Hurford explains.

Lemur Labels is the latest addition to Screen Europe’s customer base in the United Kingdom, a market that’s growing steadily and is in the process of making the switch to digital printing. “Through A&E, Lemur Labels has a strong foundation in traditional printing,” says Alan Rolfe, Screen’s Regional Sales Manager UK. “Yet, its management realizes that the future is digital. We’re really proud Lemur chose Screen's L350UV+ to enter the digital label printing market.”
