MBO, the technology specialist for folding machines and robots for print finishing, has greatly increased its commitment to sustainability and climate protection in recent years. The latest project is a photovoltaic system on the flat roof at the main site in Oppenweiler near Stuttgart.
The installation of the plant was recommended to MBO as part of an energy audit. The go-ahead for the planning was given in summer 2019. MBO Head of Development Sebastian König is pleased with the smooth process: "Fortunately, we were not affected by the disrupted supply chains and had no problems procuring the photovoltaic elements. Cooperation with the authorities also went smoothly, so we stayed on schedule." Incidentally, the flat roof had always been greened. The planting could be maintained despite the photovoltaic system, so that many useful insects continue to find food there. On sunny days, the system produces 2/3 of the electricity needed at the site. This is also used to charge the company's electric cars. MBO thus makes a valuable contribution to CO2 savings.
