World's first collaboration platform to achieve environmental and energy management systems standards
Ribose has become the world's first collaboration platform to achieve certification to the ISO 14001:2004 and ISO 50001:2011 international standards. ISO 14001:2004 helps organizations minimize their environmental footprint by setting out criteria for environmental management systems, while ISO 50001:2011 improves the energy performance of organizations by specifying requirements for energy management systems.
Ribose's ISO 14001 certification verifies its ability to measure its environmental impact and strive towards continuous improvement, while the ISO 50001 certification confirms its implementation of procedures and protocols to continually improve energy efficiency and consumption.
Ribose's certifications – both awarded by BSI (British Standards Institution), the originator of the ISO 14001 standard – were approved after validation of all applications, systems, processes and services within the company by an independent accredited auditor.
Ribose founder Ronald Tse explained, "Ribose's commitment goes beyond helping people work together effectively and efficiently - it extends to protecting the environment of the communities we serve. These new certifications are key components of Ribose's ongoing corporate governance improvement program, which aligns our business operations to international best practices."
"Ribose's integrated management system framework – which is already certified to ISO 9001, ISO 22301, ISO/IEC 27001 and PAS 99 – now extends to cover environmental and energy considerations," Tse continued. "By implementing environmental and energy best practices, we are reducing our environmental footprint and enabling our customers to achieve and integrate sustainability objectives into their respective supply chains."
"Environmental and energy impacts are often overlooked by cloud service providers, as these costs are often hidden behind infrastructure providers," Tse concluded. "Ribose is proud to take the lead in encouraging other cloud service providers to proactively manage our industry's environmental footprint. Together, we can make a huge impact."
Emmanuel Herve, Managing Director of BSI Hong Kong, added, "No organization operates in a vacuum, and the performance of any organization is closely linked to the health of the environment in which it operates. By certifying to the ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 standards, Ribose's awareness and management of environmental and energy risks demonstrate a clear understanding of its own corporate responsibilities, and a wider concern for the community and our shared environment."
