Airbags save lives. But for this to succeed, they must be correctly labelled and deploy at the right moment. This is ensured by an identification label and an airbag fixation system from Schreiner Group. Both products have now received the prestigious TLMI Award.
Every year, the US Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute (TLMI) nominates the best products in the printing industry. The jury places a special focus on innovation and technical performance. In the past, Schreiner Group from Oberschleissheim has already received this important award several times. At the TLMI Awards 2021 Schreiner Group was pleased to receive two awards at once: a 1st prize for the identification label of an airbag control unit and a 2nd prize for the airbag fixation. Both are products of the Schreiner ProTech division, which develops and produces innovative marking solutions and functional parts based on films, especially for the mobility market.
In order for an airbag to develop its protective effect, all individual components must be correctly installed. Schreiner ProTech's identification label, which won 1st prize at the TLMI Awards, provides support in this regard. The special feature here is that the material and the adhesive system are coordinated in such a way that the label adheres securely over the entire service life of the airbag control unit. Safety punchings ensure that the label cannot be removed without destroying it, for example to mark counterfeit components - a great security for manufacturers and consumers.
The airbag fixation, also by Schreiner ProTech, came in 2nd place. This also has several functions. On the one hand, the airbag fixation is custom-printed, on the other hand, it serves as an installation aid and fixation in one. It is specially made for shoulder and head airbags. These are tube-like, folded airbags that are attached to the car body. The airbag fixation keeps them in their folded state - from pre-assembly to installation in the vehicle to the deployment of the airbag.
For Managing Director Roland Schreiner, the awards are a great incentive: "I am very pleased that we were again so successful at the TLMI Awards - this time even with two awards. This shows that our innovations are seen and motivates us enormously." The high-tech company has had its own US location in Blauvelt near New York since 2008 - it has been supplying the US market for over 20 years.
